Shelter Box Project

ShelterBox is the premier international disaster relief organization that provides shelter and lifesaving equipment, after natural and manmade disasters. ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that delivers the essentials a family needs to survive in the immediate aftermath of a disaster. Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless. Responding to over 140 disasters in more than 70 countries, ShelterBox has firmly established itself at the forefront of disaster relief. (Starting as the brainchild of one Rotarian with the support of his Rotary club in year 2000 Shelterbox has grown to become the largest Rotary Club project in the 100 year history of the organization.)

In February the Club holds a Valentine’s social function. Normally during this approximate time the Club also holds a jewelry raffle. This year the Board decided to hold the jewelry raffle for Mothers’ Day and to donate the proceeds to the Shelter Box. In the spirit of giving for Valentine’s Day many members donated to the Shelter Box fund.

For the Mothers’ Day jewelry raffle the members sold raffle tickets at $25 each. The raffle was held at the club’s breakfast meeting on Monday, May 2nd. The raffle prizes were: (1) Blue topaz and diamond ring (2) Topaz necklace and (3) gold pin. All gifts were donations made by Club members.

The proceeds from member donations and the sale of raffle tickets were presented to the ShelterBox.
